The Maharashtra Government launched road accident insurance scheme name after late Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray on 16 September 2020. The scheme name is “Late Balasaheb Thackeray Road Accident Insurance Scheme”. The earlier Devendra Fadvanis led BJP government proposed this scheme. But it had not proceeded further due to issues, and Centre launched the “Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.”
Objective :
To Provide timely treatment to the victim that could help to reduce the fatality rate.
Key Features :
1. Under this scheme, the victim will be medicated at the nearby hospital for the first 72 hours.
2. The victim gets free treatment up to Rs. 30,000. It includes the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), wards as well as meals in the hospital.
3. Injured person from any state or the country can aid the benefit from the scheme if he or she meets the accident within Maharashtra.
However, this insurance scheme will not be covered those who injured in industrial accidents or fallen from trains or injured while crossing railway tracks, or injured at home.
